In this session we will explore the shifts in understanding, policy, and practice needed to create equitable schools for families experiencing poverty. We will practice identifying the subtle and not-so-subtle biases and inequities that create barriers within schools for students experiencing poverty and ways we can be responsive to the biases and inequities they experience outside school that could impact their school experiences. This will lead to a conversation about high-impact things we can do to erase the socioeconomic opportunity gap, reject deficit views, and work for equity for students who are economically marginalized
